When animals move in
Bats in the attic, squirrels in the soffits, raccoons under the deck, moles tearing up the lawn. Wildlife problems in Southern Maryland are rarely a one-time event. Once an animal finds a warm, dry place with an easy way in, it will keep coming back, and others will follow its scent.
Home Fixer holds a Maryland Wildlife Damage Control Operator permit (#58921) and is a member of the National Wildlife Control Operators Association. We use humane removal methods and follow Maryland's rules for handling wildlife.
Removal is only half the job
Getting an animal out does not help much if the hole it used is still there. Because we are also a licensed Maryland Home Improvement Contractor (MHIC 119520), we can repair the damage and seal the entry points ourselves. That means one company handles the problem from start to finish.
- Inspect the property to identify the animal and every place it is getting in.
- Remove the animal using humane methods suited to the species and the time of year.
- Repair and seal vents, soffits, rooflines, foundations and other openings.
- Clean up nesting material and contaminated insulation when needed.
Timing and the law
Maryland regulates how nuisance wildlife is handled, and some species, like bats, have seasons when exclusion should not be performed. Many animals also raise young in spring and summer. We plan the work so it is legal, humane and complete, with no young left behind and no animals trapped inside when openings are sealed.
Animals we handle
We handle bats, birds, squirrels, raccoons, moles and voles, groundhogs, opossums, skunks, foxes and rabbits. If you hear scratching in the walls or ceiling and are not sure what it is, we will find out.

Wildlife Control questions
Are your wildlife removal methods humane?
Yes. We use humane removal methods appropriate to each species and follow Maryland regulations for nuisance wildlife control.
Why do you repair entry points after removal?
If the opening stays open, another animal will find it. Sealing and repairing entry points is what keeps the problem from coming back.
What should I do if a bat is inside my living space?
Do not touch it with bare hands. Close interior doors to contain it and call us. If anyone may have had contact with the bat, contact your local health department right away.
Do you clean up after animals?
Yes. We can remove nesting material and droppings and handle attic remediation when animals have contaminated insulation.
